How do you group dogs for playtime?

At Camp Furry Paws, we take a thoughtful approach to playgroup formation, considering multiple factors beyond just size. We assess each dog's play style, energy level, age, physical condition, and temperament through our initial evaluation and ongoing observation. This careful grouping ensures that dogs are matched with appropriate playmates where they can interact safely and enjoyably.

We typically maintain 3-4 primary playgroups: small/gentle dogs (under 20 pounds or low-energy), medium-sized dogs with moderate energy, larger active dogs, and seniors/special needs dogs requiring calmer interaction. Each group has a maximum staff-to-dog ratio to ensure proper supervision, typically one staff member per 8-10 dogs depending on the group's needs.

Our experienced staff continually monitors group dynamics and may move dogs between groups if we notice changing preferences or energy levels. Dogs from the same family can play together regardless of size if they're comfortable in the same group, and dogs who don't enjoy group play can receive individual playtime with staff members instead.
